The total height of the Matterhorn is 14,692 feet (4478 m) and it falls on the border of Switzerland and Italy. The Matterhorn is a German name and means Meadow peak in English. All four directions of the Matterhorn face the north, south west and east side.
A lot of mountaineers love to go hiking up the mountain. The first ascent, however, was not very successful. History tells that climbing the mountain has not been very good for climbers and the worst one was when 500 people died in 1865 while climbing the mountain.
